166.9ha Macadamia/Sugar Farm - Ifafa KZN South Coast

This family run farm was purchased in 1999 as a sugar farm. Over the years it has
been diversified into macadamias.
There are three title deeds which form the basis for Comptondale Farm which make
up 166.9ha in total.
103.3ha are planted to macadamia trees, with 63.8ha between 6 and 18 years being
harvested at present, 39.5ha between 4 to 5 years coming into production next year.
There is an estimated crop of 100 tons for 2024, and initial estimates are for an
increase of 20% on last years price.
The KZN South Coast is known as one of the best macadamia production areas in
South Africa, if not the world. (Article in “The Macadamia “Summer 2022 Pg.6)
This farm has had an annual average crack out of 43.25% with our best individual
delivery being 49%SKR.
There are two dams on the farm. The ‘top’ dam has a gravity run scheme (No
ESKOM needed) which irrigates 30ha through micros, and a pumped state of the art
scheme from the “bottom” dam which does 73.3ha of micros which has recently
been commissioned. The equipment in the pumphouses include energy efficient
VSD pumps, automatic flushing disc filters, radio-controlled level sensors for the
reservoirs and modern fail-safe switch gear.
IrriCheck moisture probes are installed across the mac fields to schedule the
irrigation.
We are shareholders of Mayo Macadamia, and supply the Paddock factory.
There is also 36ha planted to sugar cane and delivered to Sezela mill.
There is currently no Cane Supply Agreement with Illovo Sugar, Sezela (room for
expansion without any delays).
The farm is land-claim free and we have the relevant documents as proof of this.
There is a 3-bedroom manager’s house(175m²), large shed(360m²) with a two-lane
Dehusker, 8 x 4-ton drying bins and processing plant with a new large 380v Diesel
generator which automatically switches on during load shedding. Also, a workshop
and fertilizer shed(200m²) surrounded by an Electric fence.
There is also staff accommodation for 30 people.
The farm is sold as a going concern with all the necessary tractors, trailers, mist
blower, mulcher, gyromower and 4WD farm van.
